After praying for intentions, I spent the day focused on me.
There's a certain freedom that comes from forgiving those who do us wrong.
The harder road is forgiving those that hurt our family. We all have an instinct to protect those who we love the most. And when they've been hurt, it takes a lot to find forgiveness in our heart.
And then there's the hardest kind of forgiveness, forgiving yourself.
Spending time reflecting on mistakes and sins isn't a bad thing. The harm comes when absolution has been given and we hold onto those sins anyway. It's hard to let go, even after confession. Self-forgiveness is the act of trusting that what God says about His own mercy is true.
Lord, you grant me the grace of forgiveness. Please help me to accept that grace and let it go.
