The weather report called for a 16% chance of rain, and we got every bit of it. The bottom dropped out and we weren't prepared. Soaked within five minutes. It rained hard for well over an hour.
All I could do was laugh.
We live in a culture obsessed with control. We expend enormous energy trying to predict and manage what's coming. And then a 16% chance of rain shows up and humbles the whole operation in five minutes flat.
Moments like this are an invitation to trust that God is in control. Things may not happen the way we expect. And yet, in His providence, God can bring good even from what looks like a setback.
I'd run out of things to manage, and for once I let Him have it.
